It’s 99 days until Christmas.
For many people, the thought of that just frustrates them. But for others, like me, it fills us with excitement. Christmas is slowly creeping into the supermarkets and Facebook posts, and I am loving it. I’m just waiting for Halloween to be over and it will be everywhere.
It’s my absolute favourite time of the year, I normally start thinking about it after my birthday, which is in mid July. For many years now I’ve said if I could be anything in the world, I’d be a Christmas Elf. You may think I’m a nutter, but I don’t care… I just love Christmas!I recently had a convocation with someone at work about how much I love Christmas, he said he hated it, it’s just a day and it’s over. For me, Christmas day itself is actually my least favourite part of the festive season, which may sound backwards, but let me explain…
Christmas to me is so much more than the day, it may be clique to but Christmas day is about being with loved ones and enjoying great food together. But the Christmas season is the joy, the music, the lights, the smells of the trees and spiced apple candles, it’s wrapping up of an evening and watching a colourful Christmas film with a hot chocolate, the Christmas markets, decorating the house, the excitement of shopping for others and finding something you’ll know they love. That’s what I love about Christmas. It’s probably just the Disney in me, but Christmas to me is magic.
It’s the 18th September, so far I’ve bought 2 Christmas presents, with about 5 more mentally planned, so I’m making a good start. This year I’m doing Christmas on a budget, as I’m saving for our wedding. But it shouldn’t matter how much money you spend, as long as the thought has been put in.
Let me know your favourite part about Christmas and stay tuned for many more Christmas posts to follow over the next 3 months.
